Our Year in Summary

Over the last year, we’ve worked with our network of partners to support young people at a time when it’s been needed most. Together, we’ve provided them with the workplace opportunities and support to navigate life’s challenges and kickstart their futures.

Career Ready
IN SCOTLAND
An 18-month programme that empowers young people in S5/S6 to kickstart their careers through a mentor and paid internship with a local employer, along with six sequential skills masterclasses

Career Ready
IN ENGLAND, WALES, N.IRELAND
Delivered since 2002, our 12 month programme connects young people aged 16-18 in schools and colleges with workplace opportunities and support from across our network of employers.

Career Starter
CURRICULUM ESSENTIALS
Delivered in England, our self-service resources provide comprehensive careers insights and information to schools and their learners, all mapped to the Gatsby Benchmarks for Good Careers Guidance.

NEXT LEVEL SUPPORT
The journey to becoming Career Ready doesn’t stop at 18, so neither does our support.  Launched in 2020, our Alumni Network provides onging access to career opportunities, support, and our employer network

Growth in career skills and awareness

of 2022 Scotland alumni said their internship helped them develop skills that will be useful in their future career

of 2022 Scotland alumni said that they are more aware of the career options available to them, up from 48%

of employers would hire their mentored intern if the opportunity was available

Enhanced self-esteem and social capital 

  • 87% of 2022 alumni say they are more confident than before they started the programme
  • 91% of 2022 alumni now put themselves forward for opportunities outside of their comfort zone, up from 50% when they started the programme
  • 79% of Career Ready 2022 alumni say they have a good network who can help them find a job, up from 56% when they started the programme

Positive post-school destinations  

98% of 2021 Career Ready alumni are in positive destinations, as per Skills Development Scotland verified data provided March 2022.

  • 88% of students feel more confident than they did before joining the Career Ready programme

  • 46% planned to keep in touch with their mentor
