Zohal, a student at City and Islington College in London, completed a paid internship at Evelyn Partners, where her mentor George also works. This is her Career Ready story.
“What I enjoyed most about my internship was the people I worked with,” says Zohal.
“From day one, I was made to feel supported and included. I didn’t feel like an intern, I felt like I was a part of the team.
“The encouragement, patience, and mentorship I received made the experience not only educational but also fun and inspiring. It gave me the confidence to ask more questions and learn.
“I grew so much in a short space of time, and I owe that growth to everyone I worked with.”
Experience of the world of work
Over four weeks with Evelyn Partners, Zohal had the opportunity to work with the financial planning, marketing and legal teams, and learn about the culture of the organisation.
“I developed a range of valuable skills – public speaking, communication, teamwork, problem solving, and adaptability,” she says. “Rotating between the teams allowed me to grow my confidence and apply those skills in real-world settings.
“The values and culture I experienced also inspired me, showing me the kind of environment I want to be a part of in the future.”
Moving forward
Zohal’s experience has helped her decide on a future path – and develop the skills she’ll need to get there.
“I realised how much I enjoy financial planning and now feel certain that this is the path I want to follow,” she says.
“The skills I developed will be invaluable as I move forward in my career. Strong communication and problem-solving skills will allow me to better support clients, while teamwork and adaptability will help me to thrive in any professional environment.
“My internship gave me clarity and confidence in the direction I want to pursue.”
