Zack, a student at Dunfermline High School, completed a paid internship with Amazon, where his mentor Autumn also works.

“It’s definitely not school, because you get treated, well, you get treated as a co-worker and it’s a completely different atmosphere because you’re not just doing the same tasks day in, day out and you’re not following a strict timetable.
“Everything does change and it does change pretty last minute as well.
“So we’ve been working on Project Pulse, which is a project to help with staff engagement.
“We all pitched ideas.
“Once one was chosen, we all pitched in stuff that we could do.
“My group did an activity called Prime Suspect in which someone’s hacked into Amazon on Prime week to get better discounts on all of the goods.
“And it was really, really fun, like the process of pitching the ideas and making the clues and all that.
“It’s definitely a really, really good experience and it’s something that your parents didn’t have because they were just thrown in through all the work.
“Whereas if you take on Career Ready, you’re not being thrown into it, you’re being kind of eased into it and being taught what the world of work is like.
“I’ve learnt that everybody is nervous, especially on the first day, and if there’s people starting on the same day as you, everyone’s in the same boat.
“I’ve especially learnt to work well in a team and my communication skills have definitely improved.”
