This has just been such an amazing opportunity for me, because, well one, you’re getting paid to do this, right?
And two, it’s expanded my skills to like, I did not expect that at all.
The confidence in myself – I’ve just pure grew ever since I’ve been here by talking to people, you get to network with so many people.
When I first got here I was a little bit more shy, I didn’t really open my mouth. And now that I’ve kinda had loads of meetings with everybody, I’ve learned that just talking to them and asking them questions has helped me a lot with, like, getting more knowledge of stuff, and it’s just been really helpful.
We’ve been doing some office stuff, like we’re being given like tasks, like hands on, but we’ve also been going out to different buildings. And on one of the tours we actually did for Argyle Works, we had to go and measure the building, and that was one of our tasks. So we’ve been really busy.
On the first day here, we had everyone here, even the mentees from the Edinburgh office and that was like the first day. We hadn’t seen them since, so we got to go back up to Edinburgh last week. We got to see them, see the Edinburgh office, and I thought that was probably one of the highlights of my time here.
My mentor is Victoria, she’s round the property management side. Instantly, we kinda clicked. There wasn’t really an awkwardness or anything there. She’s really helped me, she’s made it much more comfortable for me to be here.
One positive thing, actually, is my LinkedIn profile now. Because my network, I had about two networks before I started this. Now I’m all the way up at 40-something. So it does expand, and you get yourself out there more. So hopefully that will help me with jobs that I want in the future.
