Rejwan, a student at George Green’s School in London, completed a paid work experience placement with our partners bp – where his mentor Favour also works. This is his Career Ready story.
Throughout his four week placement, Rejwan worked with bp. Networking was one of his highlights from his time there.
“My favourite part of the experience has definitely been connecting with people and meeting so many new individuals,” he says. “Collaborating with my fellow interns on projects and being able to work closely with the team at bp.
“My mentor Favour made sure I was prepared for my placement, as well as just being so supportive. My supervisor, Sophia – no matter how busy she was with deals and meetings – always made time for me. I was inspired by how passionate she was.
“Honestly, I learnt the most from these connections, and they made my whole experience so valuable and life-changing. From how to carry myself professionally to how to stay grounded and driven – everyone I met helped shape me into a better version of myself.”
Progressing my skills
During his time at bp, Rejwan also developed his skills.
“The skill I reflected on most was time management,” he says. “I’ve realised how important this is – especially when things get stressful working full time.
“Alongside that, I developed resilience, adaptability, and research and analysis skills that I know will stay with me.”
Leaving my mark
“I’ve left with new skills, real confidence for the real world as I become an adult, and most importantly, lifelong connections,” Rejwan says.
“I learnt so much about this incredible place, which is why I now plan to apply next year for a degree apprenticeship.
“I can proudly say that I was able to leave a mark at bp, as well as making my mum proud, which means everything to me.”
