Video transcript:
Lamise: The experience as a whole, going into the office every day, getting used to having a 9-5, and meeting all the other mentees as well. It took some ice-breaking, but we got there eventually.
Liam: I’ve been interviewing engineers in different disciplines, and learning more about how different engineers feed into overall projects, and how many different departments there actually is within SSE.
Maximus: I learned how to communicate with people properly, learned how to network, and like write professional emails as well.
Lamise: I’m in the transmissions department, they talk about the work they’ve done, you learn quite a lot just through a meeting.
Maximus: I really enjoyed the trips we went on. In parliament, we went and seen a debate, and then we went into a Member of the Scottish Parliament’s office, and we were just kind of seeing what he was doing, his day-to-day.
Liam: My mentor’s called Ruchita, and she works as a Project Manager. We just get on really well.
Lamise: He’s also introduced me to a lot of the people in the company, I’ve definitely managed to, like, grow my network. I’ve met a lot, a lot of people.
Maximus: I didn’t really know what I want to do when I’m older, and this is really getting it clearer.
Liam: Just do it. It’ll benefit you more than anything to like have people in the working world that you can connect to.
Maximus: I would say it’s a great opportunity. Definitely something you should get into.
