Who are you?

My name is Phil Hobden and I’m a Relationship Bank Manager at RBS Future Williams & Glyn. We hosted two students from Bexhill College for an internship this summer and I am also a mentor and sit on the College’s LAB.

Why did you decide to get involved?

I heard about Career Ready via the RBS Future Williams & Glyn community pages. It’s a charity we support as a business and I decided to get involved because I was looking to do something outside of work to grow myself and my career, and as a previous business coach I  wanted to offer something back.

We managed to find two excellent members of staff both of whom have been offered on call work with us.

What were the benefits of hosting an intern?

It allowed us to see what we do through a different set of eyes to get a new approach and a new overview.

We managed to find two excellent members of staff both of whom have been trained and have been offered on call work should we need them.

What impact do you think you had?

I saw a noticeable improvement in their customer service skills in the time that Jack and Megan were with us.

Why would you recommend hosting an intern?

It’s a great experience for both the employer and the business. Hosting an intern enabled us to give something back and show that what we do as a business is a lot more than how the press and media defines it.

Get involved today and make a lasting difference.
