Andy’s internship has helped him become more confident. “I think it’s helped a lot with networking,” he says. “It’s helped me tackle my nerves with meeting new people.”
And he’s developed a great relationship with his mentor, Nick, who works at Stonepeak.
“Me and my mentor? Locked in,” says Andy. “He’s provided me with a lot of insight to the industry, and he’s helped me a lot with my personal statement, a lot of school stuff as well.”

Video transcript:
We were introduced to lots of different sectors in the industry. For example, there’s stuff like energy and then there’s stuff like transport, I found really interesting.
One of the site visits was to Gatwick – we got to go in the high tower, see the epic views. It’s absolutely beautiful watching the planes take off.
Seeing what’s going on behind the scenes of stuff that you don’t usually think about. If you’re using the airport, you don’t think about how they make money.
I think it’s helped a lot with networking and it’s helped me tackle my nerves with, you know, interacting with new people.
We also got to enhance our skills, such as doing financial modeling, and Excel work. So I found that really helpful.
Me and my mentor? Locked in.
He tells me a lot about how the work he does. He feels gratified because it’s actually helping society. And you know, when he when he’s saying it to me, I feel it as well. Provided me with a lot of insight to the industry. And he’s helped a lot with my personal statement, a lot of school stuff, like when I’m struggling with, you know, managing my life in terms of balancing social life and school life. He’s done a lot to help me.
Just do it. It’s amazing for you. It’s good for your career. It’s good for your CV.
