Abdulrahman, from Hillpark Secondary in Glasgow, completed a paid internship at Morgan Stanley in Glasgow, where his mentor Joseph also works. This is his story.

“One thing I’ve learned is that you should try and step out of your comfort zone, like as much as you can,” says Abdulrahman.

During his internship, Abdulrahman worked in the Finance Legal Entity Control team – with colleagues not just from Scotland, but around the world.

He shares more about his experience in the video:

Video transcript:

Over the last four weeks, I’ve been working here at Morgan Stanley in the Finance LEC Team. LEC stands for Legal Entity Control.

The most thing I enjoy about being here at Morgan Stanley is the culture is amazing like. Lots of different people in the one office, like it’s not just people from Glasgow – it’s people from New York, Mumbai, India, China, like all over the world. You have different perspectives, you’re getting different advice from people every single time.

Everyone is willing to help you.

I also had a couple of workshops like a hackathon, presentation skills, interview skills, CV and LinkedIn workshop, and also speed networking with a bunch of other interns.

Something I’ve learned is that try and step out of your comfort zone, like as much as you can. The more you give in, the more you get out of it. That’s basically it, like.

But it’s went by really quickly so I actually don’t want this to end just yet. If it could just take the whole summer, I don’t mind. It’s been really good, so, yeah.
