About our partnership

We engage local communities and create opportunities for young people in the region and beyond. Between 2022 and 2025, we’re working together to empower 165 young people to kickstart their futures.

What we’ve achieved together

Providing insights into the working world

A key element of the Career Ready programme is giving young people a glimpse into the work environment – bridging the gap between school and the world of work. It’s this initial insight that doesn’t just familiarise them with the professional world but opens their minds to the many possibilities and pathways they have ahead of them.

SEGRO has hosted and enabled several workplace visits in London and the East Midlands that broadened students’ workplace knowledge and showed them different job sectors and roles.

I found the workplace visit very beneficial as it showed me what it is like to be in an office and allowed me to meet some members of the SEGRO team. We got to listen to their stories and what they do and what they like about the company.

Engaging local businesses

Investing in young talent means creating opportunity in local hubs as well as larger cities. SEGRO’s support and presence in the East Midlands region has been pivotal in increasing our impact in the area. Reflecting it’s commitment to responsible business, SEGRO has opened up a network of businesses that is eager to support our work.

So far, we’ve engaged over 37 businesses in the area – from SEGRO customers to industry contacts – resulting in 18 separate employers providing mentors for the programme.

Supporting young people everywhere

While the majority of our work together opens up places on the Career Ready programme, there are still many young people in need of quality careers education up and down the country.

SEGRO has also supported the expansion and rollout of our Career Starter resources, which are free and accessible to anyone looking for Gatsby benchmarked careers guidance. In total, we’ve been able to support 4721 students at 12 schools with Career Starter resources and guidance.
