About our partnership

We’ve been working with Marsh McLennan since 2013 to give young people from underrepresented backgrounds an insight into the insurance industry. Our UK-wide partnership now covers the following key regions: London, Norwich Glasgow, Perth & Kinross and the South West of England. Together, we’ve been able to reach regions where we’re needed most and transform young lives.

Our partnership with Career Ready is positively impacting our firm in many ways, from providing our colleagues with great mentoring experience, to helping us improve the diversity of our early careers hiring and giving us the opportunity to support and give back to the communities in which we work. This is a great example of business and charity partners working together for the good of our communities in the present and the future.

What we’ve achieved together

Expanding the Career Ready programme

Marsh have been pivotal in our efforts to reach underserved regions of the UK – supporting our launch in Norwich in collaboration with Aviva. By the end of the 2023-24 academic year, we’ll have enrolled 120 young people onto the Career Ready programme in the Norwich region.

Enriching employment

Our partnership supports Marsh’s employee development and engagement by providing a rewarding volunteering experience that helps inspire the next generation of young talent. From mentors to internship hosts, Marsh employees take part in a range of opportunities across our programme.

At Marsh, our employees have a strong desire to contribute to the communities we live in, but they often face challenges in determining the most impactful way to do so. Programmes such as Career Ready provide a well-organized framework that simplifies the process. All we need to do is connect our colleagues with Career Ready, and they will be provided with a purposeful and structured social mobility volunteering opportunity. Career Ready plays a crucial role as a catalyst, as they possess a deep understanding of both the business and the school’s perspectives.

Empowering the next generation of young talent

Young people who intern at Marsh discover their strengths and have a unique opportunity to develop their employability skills in a real-life setting. For many interns, it’s their first experience of the working world, and has the potential to inspire them for years to come.

The internship at Marsh has allowed me to get a real-life insight into the world of work. I’ve definitely realised that corporate jobs aren’t boring and going into the world of work isn’t something to dread! I feel much more confident about the prospect of applying for a job in the future and definitely won’t be so intimidated by the process.
