Career Ready and the PRCA are working in partnership to help unlock young, diverse talent for the PR and communications sector. Together, we will boost social mobility, empower young power, and create inclusive workplaces.

Our mission

Talent is everywhere, opportunity isn’t

We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to kickstart a rewarding future.

However, the futures of far too many young people are determined by background, not potential, with their talents going underrepresented in certain sectors.

With the communications and PR industry traditionally struggling to connect with talent from underrepresented backgrounds.

Career Ready and the PRCA aim to change this by connecting young people to the workplace opportunities and support they need to kickstart a rewarding career in the communications sector.

My internship at Portland Communications was honestly the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Before, I was unsure about what career path I wanted to follow but my experience at Portland and the people I met made me certain that I want to enter the sector in the future.

#InvestInYoungTalent

Whether you’re a large or small employer, we have the power to build a partnership that unlocks young talent, boosts social mobility, and adds real value to your workplace.

We work with each of our partners to create a high-impact programme built on a foundation of a paid, summer internship and mentoring relationship.

And our Internship Investment Inititiative can provide funding for smaller businesses looking to support young people through paid internships.

The PR industry still has a long way to go to truly reflect society and provide equal access to opportunities. The latest PRCA Census shows that only 2% of PR practitioners come from lower socio-economic backgrounds and we hope that by inspiring young minds through our partnership with Career Ready we can make a significant and tangible impact on the future of the communications industry.
