What we’re doing

Future talent for the
charity sector

Our mission is to open up the charity sector to young people from diverse backgrounds and boost social mobility in the sector by empowering smaller charities to provide paid internships.

Charities with an income of less than £5 million can apply to receive full funding to host a young person on the Career Ready programme for a paid, four-week internship from Monday 11 July to Friday 5 August 2022.

The deadline to apply is Friday 18 March

Find out more about internships

Young people have so much talent and fresh thinking to offer our sector, and I’m proud of how with Bupa Foundation we can enable more charities to invest in their futures and showcase all the rewarding careers the third sector has to offer.

Our mission with Career Ready is to give young people the opportunity to thrive and make a real difference in their communities. This initiative will help make this a reality by enabling young people to bring their talents to charities and have a real social impact.

How it works

Internship Investment

Our internships are held in the summer holidays between schools years 12/13 and the funding will ensure that 17 young people, aged 16-17, can be paid at the UK Living Wage for four weeks (35 hours per week).

Funding is available for charities or social enterprises with an income of less than £5million who wouldn’t other been able to fund a paid internship placement themselves. But with the aim that they’re able to provide their own internship in 2023.

The deadline to apply is Friday 18 March.

It was great having a Career Ready intern, it’s important that we know what young people are thinking and how to best engage them, so having a voice that represented them in meetings was perfect. It’s a win-win for all.
