On Tuesday 10 November Career Ready celebrated their annual UK Awards to honour outstanding young people, volunteers, and schools on the programme.

With winners across six categories, the digital event honoured young people who have excelled on the programme, volunteers who have made an outstanding difference to the life of a Career Ready student, and schools who are an example of best practice in helping young people for the world of work.

Awards were handed out in the following categories:

Alina Attarzadeh from Belfast Metropolitan College was named the Leidos UK Student of the Year for her outstanding progress, commitment, and passion during the programme. On winning the award, Alina said:

“Im very proud to be the latest winner of this award, it is one of my biggest achievements. Starting Belfast Metropolitan College and joining the Career Ready programme changed my life. I came to Belfast when I was 16 as a refugee from Iran.

I lived in childcare in Belfast for a year and started working so I could support my family back home. I’m now applying for a school leaver programme with Grant Thornton. Thank you to everyone for giving me these opportunities. A future like this isn’t possible for teenagers in my home country.”
