The Career Ready 2018-20 programme in Scotland is supported by over 300 employers from a wide range of sectors. 60 new local and national employers across Scotland are adding their support this year, and 15 organisations have extended their support into new areas.
Career Ready in Scotland continues to work in partnership with local authorities, schools and employers to transform the lives of young people in: Aberdeen; Aberdeenshire; Clackmannanshire; Edinburgh; Falkirk; Fife; Glasgow; Midlothian; Moray; Perth & Kinross; Stirling; West Lothian, and for the first time in 2018, Dundee.
To celebrate the start of the 2018-2020 programme, students at each launch event will enjoy the opportunity to meet their newly appointed Career Ready mentor and network with other people from the world of work. The first of 8 launches takes place in Moray on September 24, with further events being held in across the country throughout September and October.
“We’re absolutely delighted to be launching Career Ready 2018-20 across Scotland in partnership with our network of over 300 employer supporters. Together we can ensure that – in the Year of Young People – students on our programme get the best start towards successful and rewarding futures.
Our network of employer supporters make the Career Ready programme possible and play a crucial role in boosting social mobility across Scotland, whilst benefitting too. We are truly grateful to each and every one of them.”
Anne Wexelstein, Career Ready Director for Scotland
“I am delighted that every year in Scotland we welcome a growing number of students, mentors and organisations onto our programme. The opportunities the programme offers the young people are fantastic. I hope that they develop confidence to make the most of them and reap the rewards that working with their mentors and their organisations presents.”
Sandy Begbie, Director, Global People, Organisation & Culture Integration, Standard Life Aberdeen, Career Ready Scotland & National Advisory Board Chair and Trustee
Designed to complement students’ studies, the Career Ready programme helps senior pupils make informed career choices, giving them access to real experience through mentoring, masterclasses and a paid internship. It aims to link employers directly with local schools and young people in S5 and S6, bridging the talent and skills gap between education and the world of work.
