As a former student on the Career Ready programme, I had no idea what I wanted to pursue in university or as a career. That all changed thanks to my mentor.
Not only did they guide me in shaping my career path, but they also offered invaluable advice and made time to help me with my CV and interview preparation. Through these mentoring sessions, I gained clarity, confidence, and a sense of direction.
An insight to a potential future
The programme’s impact on my life went even further. Through Career Ready, I secured a paid summer internship at Citibank, where I got an in-depth view of the banking world. While I was in the program, it was nice to be able to see what I could achieve because I never imagined a career in banking for myself until I was exposed to it.

That experience sparked a genuine interest in finance and banking, a field I hadn’t previously considered. I realised that a career in banking could be both rewarding and impactful, and I felt empowered to pursue it confidently. This past summer I did an internship at Handelsbanken Wealth & Asset Management that helped to develop my skills and further my knowledge of banking, which started at Citibank through Career Ready.
Giving back
Today, as a member of the Youth Advisory Board, I’m thrilled to give back to a programme that’s opened so many doors for me. Career Ready’s mission “to bridge the opportunity gap for young people” is one that truly resonates with me.
Through structured mentoring, internships, and masterclasses, they’re transforming lives across the UK, and I’m proud to now be part of that mission. I look forward to working with the team, supporting their goals, and helping shape the experiences of future students as they explore their own career paths.
Thank you, Career Ready, for making a difference in my life and the lives of countless other young people!
