Workplace visits

Visiting a local employer gives young people crucial insight into the world of work and broadens their horizons. It’s also a great way for young people to learn about employment sectors which they may not have previously heard of.

Local Authorities & Schools

Our facilitated workplace visits to local employers provide engaging, interactive and inspirational experiences for students. Employers open their doors to show our young people how their business works. This can be an unforgettable experience and spur students on in their studies.

How they work

We work in partnership with schools to arrange a facilitated visit to a local employer for a group of young people and a member of the school staff. Students will get the opportunity to tour a workplace, see what really goes on in the world of work, and learn from the experience, behaviour, and attitude of the employees.

Lasting 1-2 hours, visits usually start with a tour of the workplace followed by a workshop or talk. In these workshops, students learn about the employer, their business, as well as their career opportunities.

Employers & Volunteers

Workplace visits are an exciting and time-sensitive way for you to help young people develop the knowledge, insight, and inspiration needed to transition from education to rewarding employment. Hearing their reactions to your own working environment can also make you see your own business in a new light.

How they work

Workplace visits are a simple but effective way to bridge the gap between school and the world of work.

Visits usually start with a tour of the workplace followed by a workshop or talk. In these workshops, you can showcase anything from your recent product innovation, how you serve customers to career opportunities and the nature of your business in the community.

Workplace visits last approximately 1-2 hours and involve a group of young people who are accompanied by a member of school staff.
