Career Ready in Scotland is looking for new organisations to join its growing network of employer supporters.
Career Ready’s employer-led programme of mentoring, paid internships and masterclasses supports young people (across S5 & S6) to identify and focus on their future career, immersing them in the world of work. Working directly with employers, Career Ready gives young people aged 15-18, who are still in school, role models and networks to ignite their ambitions, plus the experience and skills they need to fulfil their career aspirations.
The inspiring people I met along my Career Ready journey, including my mentor from Scottish Gas, gave me motivation and showed me what I could achieve if I pushed myself. Career Ready has opened the door to opportunities I never thought would be possible.
Liam Begbie, 2017 alumni, now working for Standard Life Aberdeen
Students are matched to a business mentor who they meet every 4 to 6 weeks, wrapped around a high-quality paid internship within the mentors’ organisation. For our students, the positive impact and outcomes are clear: a step change in confidence, raised aspirations, and a clear progression pathway to higher-level study or the world of work. For mentors, as well as a real sense of satisfaction, they develop their skills too. For employers, our high-impact programme offers structured outcomes and provides an easy way to connect with local schools and meet your potential future talent pipeline.
I have gained a fresh perspective and new way of thinking in my role as a mentor. It has been personally fulfilling knowing that I have contributed to my student's growth and development.
