We are pleased to announce that we have secured a donation of £950,000 from the Inspiring Futures Foundation (IFF). We will use the funding to sustain and enhance our UK growth.
The foundation, which has supported high-quality careers advice for over 70 years, carried out in-depth research on more than 30 careers organisations and concluded that we offered the best opportunity for their money to make the biggest impact.
We carried out an extensive process to find a high-quality organisation to whom to entrust the continuation of our mission to support young people across the UK. We looked at many impressive teams and strategies but agreed unanimously to give our backing to Career Ready for multiple reasons and, especially, their dedication to evidence-based practice and the scalability of their model to cover as much of the UK as possible. We would urge other funders and partners to consider spreading this excellent work further.
Mike Hicks, Chairman. of IFF's Board of Trustees
The funding will enable us to strengthen internal capacity, sustain recent growth and accelerate our ambitious strategy to give more than 100,000 young people the skills critical for career success.
I am delighted to welcome this huge investment in Career Ready. It is not only a significant sum but also a validation of the ambition and impact of the charity. This funding will enable Career Ready to accelerate its work and will underpin its sustainability.
Sandy Begbie, Chairman of Career Ready
We work with volunteers from businesses across the UK to help young people, aged 11-18 develop the skills, attitudes and experience necessary to compete for good jobs and apprenticeships and university places. Our programme activities include mentoring, paid internships, skills masterclasses, workplace visits, and in-school sessions relating academic subjects to future careers
In the academic year just ended, we supported 50,000 young people, through a network of 5,500+ volunteers from 700+ employers. Of the 3,500 sixth formers on our high-impact Plus Programme 98 per cent go on to university, higher-level apprenticeships, work or college - compared to the national average for disadvantaged areas of 86 per cent.
