The programme gives students self belief and confidence in their future

I think that we are helping to create the future for the students and the business community.

Who are you?

My name is Iain Crighton and I’m the Managing Director of Crightons of Peterborough and a LAB chair with Career Ready. I was recently given a Volunteer Award 2016 for the East Midlands.

Why did you decide to get involved with Career Ready?

I was already involved in creating a skills vision for Peterborough and Career Ready had all the critical components which mirrored the skills vision for the City.

The programme gives students self belief and confidence in their future.

What’s the most important thing you’ve done with Career Ready?

Encouraging great businesses to become engaged with students who mature rapidly under the opportunities which become available to them. We actually ended up employing a student who spent his internship with our business.

I think that we are helping to create the future for the students and the business community.

How do you feel to receive this award?

I am proud to have won this prize because it’s a reflection of all the hard work carried out by our local administrator and the LAB member – it’s an award for all of us.
