I’m very lucky to do the job I do

This award is beyond anything I could have hoped for.

Who are you?

My name is Elaine Gray and I’m the School Coordinator of the Career Ready programme and DYW Development Officer at Craigroyston High School. I’ve been involved with Career Ready for one and a half years and this year I am the 2017winner of the Santander Employability Champion Award for Scotland.

What does your role as a coordinator involve?

I meet and support students and mentors to make sure all parties get the most out of the experience.

What are the benefits for students?

Learning how to operate with other adults, and being introduced to the world of work. Working with the students is really rewarding – I’m very lucky to do the job I do.

How do you feel to have won this award?

It’s beyond anything I could have hoped for. It’s recognition of my students’ hard work.

Why would you recommend running the programme?

You meet new friends every day!

What are you future plans for the programme?

To grow the number of students and run a residential programme.
