The guidance and encouragement of my mentor helped me to discover my strengths

Career Ready has changed the lives of myself and people in my community.

Who are you?

My name is Cara Leigh Brown and I’m a student at Kinross High School. I was recently given the national Sir Winfried Bischoff Award 2017. I'm currently in the process of joining Standard Life through their Guarantee scheme, for six months initially.

Describe yourself before Career Ready.

Before I joined the programme I had very little confidence and was going down a career path that wasn’t right for me. I was planning on dropping out of school and didn’t have the support to point me in the right direction.

Who has helped you during your time on the programme?

The guidance and encouragement of my mentor helped me to discover my strengths and take the plunge towards a career I want.

What have you learned?

I’ve developed my confidence and have a clear career plan for the future. I have completely changed course and I am so much more aware of what is available to me. I have also developed my awareness of the world of work.

Without Career Ready I would have dropped out of school, had very little confidence or direction and would not have lived up to my potential. I would have missed out on so many amazing opportunities.

How do you feel to have be a winner?

It’s an amazing priviledge for me that I am on the right path academically and in my career. Career Ready has changed the lives of myself and people in my community.
