Who are you?
My name is Lisa Cartwright and I’m the Coordinator of the Career Ready at Trafford College. I am also the North West winner of the Santander Employability Champion Award 2017.
How do you feel to have won this award?
It’s a lovely surprise and a great achievement that I’m very proud of.
What does your role involve?
Booking speakers from local business, working with students to develop their soft skills and aspirations, sitting on our LAB with local employers and developing links between 16 – 19 year olds and employers.
What are the benefits for students?
Students develop their soft skills and have the opportunity to network. The programme links work experiences and work-related learning activities.
What do you find personally rewarding?
Seeing our young people develop skills over time and increase their confidence.
Why would you recommend working with Career Ready?
The programme helps bridge the gap between employers and students, who are the employers of the future. Support from Career Ready on a national and regional scale is always available.
What are you future plans for the programme?
To develop additional streams across college and continue to embed the employer links we make across the whole curriculum.
