140 hour internship allows Tegan to experience her dream job

Tell us about yourself

My name is Tegan Duffy and I’m a student at The King Edmund School. I’ve recently been offered a place on a two year apprenticeship scheme at Baker McKenzie after I completed my Career Ready internship there.

What were your ambitions before you started the programme?

I had chosen the subjects I wanted to study but I was unaware of the working world. I had no understanding of what a full time job would be like.

Completing my internship was the most significant part of the programme. I was able to work in London and got to experience working in a Human Resources department. This helped me to understand the different job opportunities in this field.

What did you enjoy most about your internship?

My internship allowed me to experience the job I want to do when I am older – becoming a Personal Assistant. This gave me the opportunity to understand the role in more detail and what I need to do to achieve my goal.

I also got the opportunity to network with a lot of different people and make some valuable connections.

What are your plans for the future?

I’m going to complete a two year apprenticeship at Baker McKenzie to become a Legal Administator and go on to be a legal PA.

Without Career Ready I wouldn’t have got my apprenticeship and made all the great connections that I have.
